Edgy clapbacks
Procedure
- Read the exact comment and surrounding post context. When the user refers to previous clapbacks, check memory and relevant session examples for the punchlines they actually preferred and rejected. Identify the target’s rhetorical move and desired intensity before drafting.
- Distinguish a baited question from a provocateur openly proud of violent rhetoric. For bait, answer the factual hook in a few words only if it improves the joke; for prideful provocation, skip appeals to shame, reports, and explanations that the audience already understands. Make the target’s own performance the setup.
- Draft one short offensive reply with a dark, mocking, specific punchline: an unexpected reversal, deflation, or absurdly mundane consequence. This register is sharper than dignified rebuttals, victim framing, ‘we’re still here’ resilience slogans, or ‘please notice this is hateful’ callouts. ‘Nobody asked, Professor Creep’ worked by making the baiter ridiculous; the user’s parking joke indicates the level of black humor, not a reusable line to copy. Offer another option only when it uses a distinctly different comic angle.
- Aim the jab at the provoking person’s conduct or a violent organization, not an ethnicity, religion, or civilians as a class. Keep factual hooks supportable; avoid threats or celebrating harm to civilians. Read aloud for rhythm, cut defensive preambles and disclaimers, and ensure the joke does not inadvertently defend the conduct being criticized. Present the reply as a draft; do not post unless separately asked.
